Astronomy-Page is a Web 2.0 weaved astronomy website, with powerful webapps, such as a fully blown online planetarium, an astronomy startpage, and an astronomy digg. Astronomy-Page is administrated by a 15 year old webmaster and amateur astronomer (me) , who's main objective is to pimp out astronomy on the internet, and make it reach its full potential.

Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD)

The APOD is a service set up by the NASA which presents every day a picture related to astronomy, and below it an explanation of it by a professional astronomer. The APOD is one of the most popular astronomy websites on the net, and has been bringing to the general public the best pictures of the sky, coming from Hubble and Amateurs alike, ever since 1995.

Hubble shows 2 Interacting Galaxies: Arp 87

Hubble has captured one of the best and cool shots ever: two interacting galaxies, just like the mice galaxies or the antennae. The pic shows the galaxies in high detail as well as the exchange of matter taking place between both galaxies. A nice foreshadowing of what might happen to our Milky Way when it collides with the Andromeda Galaxy (M 31) in about 2 million years' time. Check it out!

Unexpected Brightening of Comet 17P/Holmes

Comet 17P/Holmes now makes for an unexpected sight in the night sky. In the night of 23 to 24 October the comet has brightened by an enormous factor of 1 million, from a magnitude of about 17 to a magnitude of about 2.7. Professional Astronomers aren't sure of what caused this sudden brightening of the comet, and expect results from observation data in the time to come
