Hyperion, Saturn's Mossy Moon

Hyperion is one of the many moons of Saturn. The Cassini mission revealed it in great detail when approaching Saturn in 2005. Composed mainly of ice, the moon orbits Saturn in approximately 21 days.

The moon is named after a Greek Titan (a greek god). The Mossy aspect of the moon is largely confirmed by its density and composition. Taking its volume, 40% of it is actually empty space!

This moon is definitely one of my favorites. I like it because of its appearance, it looks so fluffy! I also like it because of the picture above because it’s definitely one of the best shots taken by Nasa/JPL ’s Cassini Probe.
